Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) Oleksandr Turchynov has said he does not rule out that Russia has withdrawn its representatives from the Joint Center for Control and Coordination (JCCC) due to upcoming military operations in Donbas.

Turchynov stressed the readiness of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to repel any attacks in Donbas. Army of Ukraine will strengthen their positions in the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) zone in Donbas due to recent ceasefire violations, when Russian proxies had been shelling civilian facilities in Novoluhanske from artillery and multiple launch rocket systems.

"We will certainly strengthen our positions at the front," he said during an exhibition in memory of Armed Forces Lieutenant Amina Okuyeva in Kyiv on Wednesday.

Turchynov also linked Russia`s withdrawal from the Joint Control and Coordination Centre with the escalation at the front.

"We cannot rule out that they are withdrawing their officers in order to step up not just provocations, but also military operations," he said.

Earlier U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker said that Russia had taken its officers from JCCC "right before" shelling in Donbas.
