Ukraine and the People's Republic of China deepen investment cooperation: new program is signed

Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry of Ukraine shared the details of the signed program of investment cooperation in the agricultural sector between Ukraine and China.

"The signed document aims to define the priority areas of the Ukrainian-Chinese investment cooperation in the agricultural sector and the key mechanisms and instruments for such cooperation. This framework intergovernmental agreement will give impetus to the businesses of the two countries for implementation of specific investment projects in the agricultural sector," commented Deputy Agrarian Policy and Food Minister of Ukraine Olha Trofimtseva.

She noted that the trade in agricultural products between Ukraine and China over the past two years had reached over $1 billion.

Earlier President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko met with Vice Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China Ma Kai.

 The visit of the Vice Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China to Ukraine was very important for the development of Ukraine-China partnership, Poroshenko stressed.

Among the variety of questions on the agenda Poroshenko drew attention to the importance of China’s adhering to the consistent position of respect for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine. He urged the Chinese authorities to adhere to the policy of non-recognition of the temporary occupation of the Ukrainian Crimea by Russia. He is also hopeful for the constructive position of the Chinese side regarding the Ukrainian issues within the UN.

Ukraine's interest in the implementation of China’s initiative “One Belt, One Path” was confirmed, in which the priority is to involve China's technological capabilities and investments in Ukraine's transport infrastructure development.

Petro Poroshenko conveyed invitation to President of China Xi Jinping to make a visit to Ukraine.
