Russia started regular freight traffic to the South of the country through Voronezh and Rostov regions, around the territory of Ukraine, according to the press service of Russian Railways.

The company emphasized that they would inform when the passenger trains start coursing on this route.

The new 137 km railway crosses the territory of Voronezh and Rostov regions. Seven new train stations were built on the route.

In March 2014, it was announced that a railway to the South of Russia would be built, which wouldn’t cross the territory of Ukraine. The estimated cost then was $780 million to $1 billion.
