Today a general political discussion in the framework of the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly opens in New York. More than 120 heads of state and government, as well as foreign ministers and heads of delegations, will give speaches during it.

Before the beginning of the general debate, the UN Secretary General presented his annual report to the UN member states on the work of the United Nations.

Within the framework of the morning session, the speech of the US President will be held. For Donald Trump, this will be the first speech from the rostrum of the General Assembly.

The list of speakers also includes Presidents of Guinea, the Swiss Confederation, the Slovak Republic, Nigeria and the Czech Republic.

The tenth speaker is French President Emmanuel Macron.As for President Trump, for the new French leader this will be the first appearance at the UN.

The speech of the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko is scheduled for September 20.

During his first official meeting at the United Nations, U.S. President Donald Trump said the organization is not reaching its full potential because of bureaucracy and mismanagement. This was reported by Voanews agency.

Addressing leaders of more than 120 member nations on Monday, Trump praised U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres for his efforts to modernize the world body. Guterres said the old fashioned procedures and fragmented structures are making the U.N. less effective than it should be.

The United Nations was founded on truly noble goals,” Trump said.

“In recent years, the United Nations has not reached its full potential because of bureaucracy and mismanagement,” he noted.

"We commend Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and his call for the UN to focus more on people and less on bureaucracy,” Trump wrote in Twitter.
