U.S. President Donald Trump has approved the decision to send additional 4,000 troops to Afghanistan, ahead of his address to the nation on Monday night, Fox News reports.

“Trump is set to unveil his strategy for Afghanistan, becoming the third commander-in-chief to attempt to stabilize the war-torn country and forge a victory in what is now America’s longest war. An estimated 8,400 U.S. troops are currently in Afghanistan,” the message says.

The speech is scheduled for 9 p.m. EDT Monday. The president will deliver the nationally televised address to troops stationed at the Army's Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall next to Arlington National Cemetery.

A big part of speech will include "asking the region to do more," specifically asking India and Pakistan to do more to bring the Taliban to the negotiating table, a senior U.S. official said.

As it was reported earlier Trump decided on new strategy for Afghanistan, according to the Head of Pentagon. Earlier US president considered various options and wanted to announce results "at the appropriate time."
