The Program of Cultural Cooperation for 2017-2021 signed today by the Ministries of Culture of Ukraine and Belarus increases opportunities for the implementation of joint projects, as stated by President Petro Poroshenko.

The document is aimed to strengthen cultural ties between the two countries and create a favorable climate for the enhancement of economic and political cooperation.

“The program of cultural cooperation for 2017-2021 expands our opportunities in the implementation of joint cultural projects, such as celebration of the 345th anniversary of the author of the first Ukrainian and European Constitution - Hetman Pylyp Orlyk,” the Head of State noted.

He also paid attention to the continuation of contacts between the national academies of sciences. Special attention was paid to meeting the language needs of Ukrainians and Belarusians who live in the territories of the two states. “I was pleased to hear that we continue cooperation on studying Belarusian language in the National University of Kyiv, open courses in Irpin, other cities of Ukraine. We agreed that Ukrainians in Brest and Gomel regions will also receive all opportunities to study Ukrainian,” the Head of State noted. According to him, the Ukrainian Ambassador to Belarus has already been instructed to organize proper work with Ukrainians in Belarus. “So that they feel care of the Ukrainian state about every Ukrainian citizen,” the President noted.

Today, the regions of Belarus and Ukraine are really interested in each other,” Alexander Lukashenko said and recalled successful common projects and contracts between Kyiv and Minsk.
