President: Ukraine will build a new ammunition plant

Significant part of budgetary overfulfillment will be allocated to the defense and security sector, as stated by President Petro Poroshenko in the NSDC meeting. The President offered to build an ammunition plant.

“We agreed to allocate the major part of budgetary overfulfillment to the defense and security sector. Development of the Armed Forces and other law enforcement bodies is crucial for us today,” the Head of State noted.

The President offered to allocate funds to organize the production of ammunition from national raw materials.

“I offered to build an ammunition plant, introduce new technologies in full compliance with the NATO standards that will ensure interoperability of ammunition produced under basic calibers,” the President said adding that 1 billion 400 million hryvnias will be allocated for that issue.

“We must restore the capacities Ukraine had before the Russian occupation. This is among the top priorities,” the Head of State emphasized.

In addition, 1 billion 600 million hryvnias will be allocated for the procurement of modern armament. “We will organize the production of modern armored vehicles, including “Oplot” tanks, modern missiles that will help increase our defensive capabilities,” Petro Poroshenko said.

The President set a task to reinforce the systems of radio-electronic warfare, systems of modern upgraded unmanned aerial vehicles, allocate part of the funding to the anti-sniper complexes, since it is the sabotage groups that today pose a serious threat to the defenders of sovereignty and integrity of Ukraine.

“I am confident that these funds must be allocated now, as it will significantly increase the efficiency of our units on the touch line. De-facto, we will have an opportunity to see, hear and counter Russian aggression,” the President noted.
