Committee of Permanent Representatives of EU member states has agreed on preliminary arrangements regarding trade preferences for Ukraine. This was reported by UNIAN referring to the correspondent.

The according arrangements were reached in terms of interinstitutional negotiations with European Council and European Commission on trade preferences for Ukraine.

It is noted that the Committee of the European Parliament on international trade earlier supported a compromise option. Thus the decision should be approved by the European Parliament at the plenary session in July and by the Council of the European Union.

Agreements provide that quotas for tomatoes, wheat, corn and honey will be increased, but not to the extent earlier proposed by the European Commission, urea was excluded from the proposals.

Particularly, the following annual quotas were established: 2,500 tons for honey, 3,000 tons for processed tomatoes, 65,000 for wheat, 625,000 for corn and 325,000 tons for barley.

It is planned to introduce preferences up to three years as a supplement to the Agreement on the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area.
