The Press Freedom Monitoring Center of the Association of Polish Journalists (SDP) protested against the prolongation of the arrest of Ukrinform correspondent Roman Sushchenko in Russia and urged the Russian authorities to immediately release the Ukrainian journalist.

This is reported in the statement of the center."The Center for Monitoring Press Freedom SDP strongly protests against another prolongation of the arrest of Ukrainian journalist in Moscow on charges of espionage and calls on the Russian authorities to immediately release him," the statement said.The Center for Monitoring Press Freedom SDP informs that the Ukrainian journalist is in prison in Russia since September 30, 2016. It is noted that during this time his basic rights were violated. We recall, the Ukrinform journalist Roman Suschenko in violation of international rules was detained on September 30, 2016 in Moscow, where he arrived with a private trip. The FSB of Russia said that Sushchenko is an employee of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. Note that he was charged with "espionage".
