Russia intends to overcome dependence on Ukrainian gas turbine engines by mid-2018. This was announced by the president of Russian United Shipbuilding Corporation Alexey Rakhmanov, reports TASS.

“From the middle of next year, we will eliminate dependency in the sphere of propulsion systems production,” Rakhmanov said.

He said that they received instructions to build marine diesel engines, and USC will be able to independently produce the entire line of power installations for ships - both gas turbines and diesel engines.

Previously, Russian Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov said that Russia will be able to completely replace components that were previously supplied by Ukraine by 2018-2019.

As it was reported earlier Ukraine can receive NATO warships to its fleet. The transfer of used ships of NATO fleet to Ukraine is being discussed.
