Court arrested detainee in Voronenkov’s case for two months

Holosiivskyi District Court of Kyiv arrested Yaroslav Tarasenko, who is suspected of involvement in murder of Denis Voronenkov, the former member of the State Duma. This was reported on Twitter by Victoria Zhuhan, correspondent of "Radio Svoboda".

"Court decided that Yaroslav Tarasenko, who was detained in the case of Voronenkov’s murder, is to be kept in custody for 60 days," correspondent writes.

Tarasenko is suspected of organizing the murder. Prosecution claims that he was the driver of the vehicle which brought the killer to the scene, and he was also going to pick him up afterwards.

At the same time, detainee's defense says that prosecutor's office provided insufficient evidence.

As it was reported earlier, law enforcement officers suspect the person, who was detained in Pavlohrad, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, of involvement in the murder of Denis Voronenkov.

Ex-State Duma MP Voronenkov was shot in Kyiv downtown.

It also became known that Voronenkov's killer is citizen of Ukraine. The killer died in the hospital in Kyiv. He got two wounds in the chest and one shot in the head.

Denis Voronenkov and llya Ponomarev, former MPs of the Russian State Duma, are the witnesses in treason case against fugitive Victor Yanukovych. According to the Prosecutor General Office, the law allows to add Voronenkov’s testimony on written record on the stage of the court investigation.
