Ukraine plans to suspend the railway communication with Russia from July 1. This was reported by the Kommersant daily with reference to sources close to the government.

“Ukraine is getting ready to suspend railway passenger service with Russia around July 1,” the source said.

The reason for this is transportation provided by Russian Railway from the zone of armed conflict in Donbas to Russia. At the moment, an electric train runs from Donetsk to Russia's Taganrog, the ticket price for which is 30 cents.

At the same time, Ukrzaliznytsia notes that final decision has not been taken yet.

“Plans to suspend passenger transportation have not been officially confirmed in Kyiv or Moscow, however, Ukrainian interlocutors insist that the decision is “actively lobbied” by the Secretary of the Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov and the Speaker of Verkhovna Rada Andriy Parubiy, whose tough stance has been lately frequently supported by the President Petro Poroshenko,” the daily writes.

Earlier it was reported that Federal Freight, the subsidiary of Russian Railways, which came under sanctions, withdrew its wagons from Ukrainian territory
