Ukrainian Foreign Minister stated that Donbas and Crimea are most troubled grey zones in Europe

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin took part in the 127th meeting of Committee of Ministers of the European Council at the level of Heads of Foreign Ministries, which took place in Nicosia, Cyprus, on May 19. Klimkin announced during the meeting that Donbas and Crimea are the most troubled grey zones in Europe. This was reported by the press service of Ukrainian MFA.

Pavlo Klimkin drew attention of the Foreign Ministers to the unacceptability of existence of grey zones on the territory of European continent, where people de facto are outside the protection under European Convention on Human Rights.

Ukrainian diplomat noted that Donbas and Crimea are the most troubled grey zones in Europe, stressing that the current situation clearly shows how one particular state can deliberately and consciously destroy the human rights protection system on the continent.

Pavlo Klimkin welcomed the importance of adoption of decision regarding situation in Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol city on May 3 by the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe and stressed, that such decision should serve European Council as signpost towards the restoration of all violated human rights in Crimea, as well as being another step towards de-occupation of peninsula.
