Ex-President Viktor Yanukovych provided financial assistance in organizing actions in honor of the Victory Day in Ukraine. This is stated in the message of the Ukrainian News.

Yanukovych provided financial support for events in a number of cities: Kyiv, Odesa, Kharkiv, Zaporizhya, Dnipro and assistance to veterans of the Great Patriotic War in these cities.

In particular, the former president is named among those who provided assistance and allocated material resources.

Earlier we reported that as a result of such events in Kharkiv, northeastern Ukraine, clashes between participants of the Memorial March and patriotically-minded activists occurred. The activists asked partakers of the march to take away the portraits with Ribbons of Saint George but they refused to do this, which provoked a scuffle. The police set them apart and no one got hurt.

In Zaporizhia, southeastern Ukraine, two groups of the local activists went for another clash. One of the groups brought items with Soviet symbols on them, refusing to take them away. That started a fight with the local pro-Ukrainian activists. A few participants of the Memorial March were detained.

In Dnipro city, southeastern Ukraine, pro-Ukrainian activists and veterans of Donbas conflict fought with members of the local cell of pro-Russian Opposition Bloc party. The police broke them up; eight activists and six policemen were injured. 15 people were detained.

A showdown took place in Mykolaiv, southern Ukraine, where pro-Ukrainian activists opposed people carrying banners and other items with Communist symbols on them.
