President of the United States Donald Trump continued the sanctions against the government of Syria for another year. This is reported by the press service of the White House of the United States.

"The national sanctions regime is prolonged for one year in connection with the actions of the Syrian government," the message signed by Trump said.

As the White House explained, "The US condemns the brutal violence and violation of human rights by the regime of Syrian President Bashar Assad and calls on him to stop violence against the Syrian people, adhere to the ceasefire regime, ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid and facilitate a political transition in Syria."Earlier, the US imposed 271 sanctions against the government of Bashar Assad in Syria for the alleged use of chemical weapons.As reported, in Syria on Saturday, May 6, at midnight local time in four zones of de-escalation a memorandum on the ceasefire came into force.However, on the same day, despite the entry into force of the memorandum on the cease-fire regime, fighting resumed in one of the zones.
