Trilateral Contact Group agrees to rapidly verify list of hostages who are not willing to move to occupied territories

Verification of citizens objecting to move to the uncontrolled Ukrainian territory in Donbas will take place in the nearest time. This was agreed on during the meeting of Trilateral Contact Group in Minsk, according to Facebook message by Daria Olifer, the press secretary of Ukrainian representative, Leonid Kuchma.

"Verification of citizens’ refusal to move to the uncontrolled Ukrainian territory in Donbas was planned for April 18, 2017. However, the event was disrupted due to the position of militants. As a result of today’s work it was decided that such verification would take place in the nearest time, OSCE representatives, Security Service of Ukraine, office of Ukrainian ombudsman and mothers of prisoners will also take part in it," Olifer informed.

The according agreement was also confirmed by Martin Sajdik, Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office in Ukraine and in the Trilateral Contact Group, during the briefing broadcast by 112 Ukraine TV channel. He noted the importance of creating mechanism to verify the desire of those citizens, who would like to stay on the territory where they remained during their detention, after the release.

Press secretary also noted that Minsk group has heard preliminary information of OSCE SMM Head Apakan about the investigation process regarding tragic incident with monitoring group. Olifer reported that Ukrainian side had to halt power supply to the occupied territories in Donbas as militants seized Ukrainian private and state property in Donbas and refuse to pay for the electricity consumption.
