Chairman of the Board of Raiffeisen Bank Aval Volodymyr Lavrenchuk has reportedly given consent to take up post of the Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) as a successor of Valeria Gontareva, Ukraine's TV Channel 24 reported with reference to an informed source in the NBU.

Now Lavrenchuk's nomination should be supported by the parliament, TV Channel 24 says.

"Lavrenchuk agreed to head the National Bank of Ukraine, now it's up to the Verkhovna Rada," the source said.

The source also stressed that Lavrenchuk was ready to agree to a much lower salary than he was getting now (UAH 500,000 per month).

As UNIAN reported, on April 10, Valeria Gontareva announced her resignation from the post of NBU governor from May 10.

Gontareva in early March confirmed rumors of her possible resignation, promising to officially warn the public a month prior to the actual date she intended to quit office.
