The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and other law enforcement agencies participating in the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) in the country's east are ready to implement a decision by the Trilateral Contact Group in Minsk on a full ceasefire in Donbas starting from April 1, according to an UNIAN correspondent.

"The AFU and other law enforcement agencies that are involved in the ATO are ready to implement all the decisions adopted by the Minsk [Trilateral Contact] Group. We are ready both to withdraw [weapons] and unilaterally cease fire that we are currently performing. We are only waiting for steps from the other side," Ukrainian Defense Ministry speaker for ATO issues Oleksandr Motuzianyk said at a briefing.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the Trilateral Contact Group for the Donbas settlement welcomed the determination of the participants in the Minsk process to ensure a complete ceasefire from April 1.

"The Trilateral Contact Group has welcomed the determination demonstrated by all the participants in the Minsk process to ensure a full ceasefire prior to Easter holidays, which will enter into force on April 1, 2017. In addition, there will be a significant acceleration in the procedure of crossing at the checkpoints at the contact line from April 1 to mark Holy Week [when Orthodox Church members remember their deceased relatives]. In particular, it is planned to extend working hours of the crossing points in the morning and in the evening," Darka Olifer, the press secretary of former Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma, who is Ukraine's envoy to the Trilateral Contact Group, wrote on Facebook.
