World Air Sports Federation together with Noosphere to Organize Hackathon for Ukrainian Engineers and Students

In May 2017, the World Air Sports Federation (FAI) and Association Noosphere will set up a hackathon for techies and students from top Ukrainian universities.

The student hackathon is planned to be a competition on collective brainstorming to solve an FAI tесhnical assignment. The FAI wants to advance its current scoring techniques during air sport events and competitions. The FAI manage almost 700 events annually. Thus the hackathon task would be to create a new way to monitor and measure results for ballooning tournaments, specifically measuring devices for balloon flight indicators.

So far 7 universities have already supported this fantastic initiative by hosting the event. That are Rivne National University of Water and Environmental Engineering, Lviv National Polytechnic University, Dnipro National University, Dnipro National University of Railway Transport, Cherkasy State Technological University, Kyiv Polytechnic Institute and Kyiv National University.

The 48-hour competitive brainstorming is to start at each host institution at the same time and will be done in two rounds. Through the first 24-hour round, student groups will think over and conceptualize ideas for effective result tracking systems. After that students will go though the other 24-hour round to fine-tune their concepts and get ready with their final presentations. The international panel of judges, guided by the FAI will examine each idea presented and award the winners by providing them assistance to execute their project. They will make a prototype and also have the chance to test it live on-site at the FAI Balloon Tournament in September 2017.

The hackathon is to take place through the support of Noosphere Ventures, Association Noosphere’s supporter, that has recently become the Global Technical Partner of World Air Sports Federation. FAI President Frits Brink, FAI Secretary General Susanne Schödel and Noosphere Ventures Managing Partner Max Polyakov signed the agreement of technical partnership on 2 February, 2017. The agreement outlined a number of fields they will be working together on. Considering all the business, science and technical expertise of Noosphere Ventures, the partnership is expected to bring the next big thing into the air sports and create a new momentum for FAI, international institution with 112 years of history.

Max Polyakov, who is the founder of Association Noosphere as well, was excited about the new partnership and commented, «Through our strategic partnership with FAI, we are eager to bring the innovation revolution to the world of technical sports. Our first steps will focus on providing modern tracking solutions to air sports. We believe that it takes teamwork to develop truly valuable products. Wikipedia, Uber, and Airbnb are only possible because of collaborative efforts and are now changing the landscape of the current digital economy. This is why Noosphere is creating special events with the FAI to engage with global communities of entrepreneurs and scientists.»
