The Minister of Defense, Stepan Poltorak, urged reserve officers to return to service in the Armed Forces in a post on his Facebook page.

Poltorak stressed that, thanks to volunteers, the Ukranian army has doubled in size. However, the threat to the independence of the country still exists.

"I appeal to the reserve officers, those who have received a pension from the state, housing and benefits, those who are in a well-deserved retirement. You went through military service, gained the experience that our army needs so much ... If your age and health permits, I urge you to return to the Armed Forces - we need your experience and knowledge. We are waiting for you at a difficult time for our country!" he wrote.

Earlier, the General Staff reported that this year Ukraine will call up reserve officers who graduated from reserve officer training institutions and have not served previously to begin military service.
