Russia raises nearly 3,000 troops for snap readiness inspections in the Crimea and North Cacauses

Nearly 3,000 servicemen in the Crimea and North Caucus were called up on Thursday snap combat readiness inspection, the press-service of the Southern Military District, Russia's TASS news agency reported.

“Today in accordance with a decision by the Commander of Russia's Southern Military District Colonel-General Alexander Dvornikov for the purpose of a snap combat readiness inspection a number of units from Karachay-Cherkessia, Chechnya, Dagestan, and the Crimea were raised up on alert," the statement of the Russian Ministry of Defense reads.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Defense, nearly 3,000 servicemen and more than 1,000 pieces of combat equipment and special equipment, including T-72B3 tanks, BMP-3 armored personnel carriers, and BTR-82A armored vehicles will be involved in the readiness inspection.

The units taking part in the exercisesareequipped with a standard payload and weapons. The military marched to the designated training ranges and will train in repelling an attack of an imaginary enemy. After the drill the servicemen will practice tactical maneuvers as a unit and conduct live fire drills with small arms and rocket propelled grenades, as well as from the previously stated tanks and combat vehicles.

"Special attention during the snap inspection is being paid to the control over the commander and staff organization’s comprehensive and quality management, integration and communication between departments," the press-service said.
