Russia has created a continuous radar field along the perimeter of the country to defend against nuclear attack, as stated by Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu, Interfax reports.

According to Shoygu, in 2016 three new Voronezh radar stations in Omsk, Barnaul and Yeniseysk were successfully tested. Three existing stations in Baranovichi, Murmansk and Pechora were also reworked.

"All this has allowed us, for the first time in the history of new Russia, to establish a continuous radar field along the perimeter of our country, a missile warning system that covers all strategic aerospace directions and for all types of flight trajectories of ballistic missiles," Shoygu said.

He noted that the strategic nuclear forces of the Russian Federation are maintained at a level that guarantees nuclear deterrence. "In the Strategic Missile Troops, 99% of missile launch facilities are in combat readiness; among them 96% are in constant readiness for immediate launch," Shoygu said.

According tp Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin, the new intercontinental ballistic missiles being developed in Russia can overcome any missile defense of the United States.

"We will tear this defense apart. Apart from provocation, this defsnse poses no serious military threat to us today," Rogozin said on Russia-1 TV.

In October 2016, Russia showcased its intercontinental ballistic missile Sarmat, which was nicknamed 'Satan 2.’
