President Petro Poroshenko underlines the need for completing demarcation of the Ukraine-Moldova border, including the area of Transnistria.
“In 2009, as Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, I initiated this process. And we underline the need for completing this process as soon as possible,” the Head of State said in the joint press conference with Prime Minister of Moldova Pavel Filip.
According to Petro Poroshenko, this issue, as well as the development of cross-border transport infrastructure was specifically addressed during today’s negotiations.
The President informed that the parties agreed on the actions aimed to improve the working conditions of the border crossing points. “We agreed on the steps that will ensure joint control on the Ukraine-Moldova border-crossing points aimed to simplify the procedure of crossing the border for Ukrainian and Moldovan citizens,” he said.
This concerns Palanca-Mayaky-Udobne border crossing point and the introduction of a “revolutionary joint control” in Kuchurhan, as stated by Petro Poroshenko. He also informed that the European funds will be involved for the improvement of border crossing points.
Prime Minister of Moldova Pavel Filip noted that the project of joint control on the Ukraine-Moldova border in the area of Palanca and other areas is being implemented successfully. He also informed that the improvement of cross-border infrastructure and bringing it in compliance with European standards will be accelerated.
