President Petro Poroshenko took part in the opening of the newly built department of the central district hospital in Halych, Ivano-Frankivsk region.

The Head of State reminded that outpatient clinics haven’t been built in Prykarpattia since 1993 and hospitals – since 2003. “The construction of the central hospital in Halych started in 1978. Each and every President promised to complete the construction and only now, when the country is in extremely difficult conditions, when we defend the Ukrainian land from Russian aggression, the construction has been completed,” the President said.

“Look, we are opening a new hospital, we have driven on a new road. How many years have passed without road construction? How long has Prykarpattia been waiting for the restoration of road management?” the President noted. According to Petro Poroshenko, the country has launched an experiment when extra revenues from customs are allocated for the road construction. “This initiative must concern the entire Ukraine. We will build over 2 thousand km of roads only in 2017. And we will continue the trend of 2016,” the Head of State said.

According to the President, the new department of the hospital has become the result of the decentralization program. Funds for the construction have been allocated from the State Fund for Regional Development, state and local budgets. “It is crucial to unite these efforts,” Petro Poroshenko noted.

Petro Poroshenko informed that Ukraine had received good news from Brussels. The EU guaranteed macro-financial assistance and informed on the beginning of the process of completion of ratification in the only remaining country – the Netherlands.

“They have firmly promised the visa-free regime. It is important for us. And it is not about visas. The Association Agreement, the visa-free regime are the recognition of Ukraine as a European country and opening of a solid European prospect,” the Head of State stressed.

“We are modernizing our state, doing everything for Ukrainians to feel like a true European nation,” the President added.
