President Petro Poroshenko has started a meeting in vis-a-vis format with Prime Minister of Greece Alexis Tsipras who is on a working visit to Ukraine.

Petro Poroshenko expressed gratitude to Alexis Tsipras for having accepted the invitation to visit Ukraine on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations. Over this time, Ukraine and Greece have maintained reliable and friendly partnership, as stated by the President.

The Head of State expressed gratitude to Greece for a solid stand in the issue of withstanding Ukraine’s territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence, condemning Russian aggression against Ukraine and non-recognizing the annexation of Crimea.

Greece supports Ukraine in the process of European integration and firmly insists on the necessity of full implementation of the Minsk agreements: total ceasefire, withdrawal of Russian troops from the Ukrainian territory and ensuring peace process, as stated by Petro Poroshenko.

The President emphasizes that the two countries share close economic, social, cultural and interpersonal ties that will be further enhanced.

According to Petro Poroshenko, a large Greek minority lives in Ukraine. The President offered to organize a meeting with Ukrainian Greeks for the Greek Prime Minister in the future.

In his turn, Prime Minister of Greece Alexis Tsipras emphasized that his country stood for the maintenance of peace and stability in Ukraine and was willing to provide comprehensive facilitation in that issue. He also expressed interest in developing and enhancing Ukraine-Greece bilateral relations.

Upon completion of the bilateral meeting, the parties will hold an expanded meeting of the Ukrainian and Greek delegations.

Petro Poroshenko and Alexis Tsipras will also deliver press statements.
