Ukraine considers China as an ally in solving Donbas conflict

Xi Jinping declared that China supports Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.

The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko hopes that China will help to stop Russian aggression against Ukraine. He said this during the meeting with the leader of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping in Davos, reports the press service of the President.

“The leader of Ukraine expressed hope that China will help to peacefully solve the situation in Donbas, to stop Russian aggression against Ukraine and restore territorial integrity of Ukraine with Crimea,” the message says.

During the talks it was agreed to continue bilateral cooperation in support of peace and stability at the regional and global levels, including the work in the UN Security Council.

The two leaders stand for the intensification of economic cooperation between the countries. They agreed to conduct the session of the Ukraine-China Intergovernmental Commission for Cooperation in 2017.

The President noted that Ukraine was willing to take active part in the implementation of the initiative of China “One Belt, One Path” and had a great potential for that. The President of China invited the Ukrainian delegation to take part in that forum.

The two Presidents agreed to intensify political dialogue at the highest level. The parties agreed to exchange visits, the terms of which will be coordinated via diplomatic channels.

Earlier reported China to establish free trade area with Ukraine.

Also Ukraine agreed to deepen mutually beneficial military cooperation with China.
