President Petro Poroshenko expressed gratitude to the United States and personally to Vice President of the United States Joseph Biden for the constant and firm support of Ukraine in its struggle for independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity in today`s meeting concerning further development of Ukraine-USA strategic partnership.

“I would like to express sincere gratitude for the advices and assistance to a good friend, Vice President Biden, and to the present U.S. administration. We really count on the succession by the new U.S. administration in our common work,” Petro Poroshenko said in the press statement following the meeting with U.S. Vice President Joseph Biden.

“We respect the democratic choice of the American people and are willing to have a fruitful and efficient cooperation with the new U.S. administration. Ukraine has always enjoyed such a support,” Petro Poroshenko said and expressed hope that “the Ukrainian issue will further unite the entire American political spectrum and remain among the top priorities”.

In his turn, the U.S. Vice President expressed hope that the new American administration would continue supporting Ukraine. “I hope that the next administration will also want to be a supporter and partner in your continued progress,” Joseph Biden noted.

Petro Poroshenko called Joseph Biden a true and reliable friend of Ukraine that has done a lot for Ukraine’s tangible progress in its struggle in both internal and external directions, as well as for the support of reforms in our country since the Revolution of Dignity.

“Activity, richness and openness of our dialogue are very effective. Dozens of hours of our phone conversations and numerous personal meetings - it was a very difficult but very effective process of finding the right decisions that greatly accelerated the progress of reforms on which life and death, sometimes the state’s fate and the fate of millions of its citizens depended,” the President emphasized.

“I feel immense gratitude and pride for having the great honor to be with you in these difficult times. To create history jointly, history of success of the biggest country in Europe. Experience achieved in this communication is invaluable. We have something to be proud of,” Petro Poroshenko added.

He also noted that due to the support of Joseph Biden, strategic partners from the United States and the EU, a powerful pro-Ukrainian global coalition had been formed and our state had gained an opportunity not just to defend itself from the aggressor, but to begin the process of reforms that change its face every day.

“Your today’s visit to Ukraine is a very symbolic sign. It gave us an opportunity to sum up the heroic path of Ukraine in details. This is truly remarkable. Thank you personally, Joe,” the President concluded.
