Control flight testing of midrange anti-aircraft missiles held in Kherson region is caused by the necessity of constant readiness to repel the aggressor at anytime, as stated by President Petro Poroshenko.

"Launches take place in the airspace of Ukraine, over the open sea in full compliance with international law. Air shooting is held irrespective of any statements of Moscow. Once again: the only reason that forces us conduct training is the need for constant readiness to full-scale invasion of our aggressive neighbor," the Head of State stressed. The President of Ukraine also emphasized that the training was scheduled.

"Despite Russian threats we are holding scheduled exercise today and tomorrow, including testing of guided anti-aircraft missiles, because over the past 23 years the air defense system has been destroyed. And today, our responsibility is to build air protection of Kyiv and the whole Ukraine. Nobody will stop us. We will serve the interests of the Ukrainian people and state," he said.

According to Petro Poroshenko, successful launches have already taken place this morning. The training involves combat and transport aviation, anti-aircraft and radio-technical troops.
