President Petro Poroshenko held a phone conversation with President of the European Council Donald Tusk.
The parties discussed the course of preparations to the Ukraine-EU Summit that will take place in Brussels on November 24.
The leaders praised the decision of the EU Council at the level of ambassadors to begin cross-institutional negotiations on the introduction of the visa-free regime for Ukrainian citizens.
“This decision is a substantial political achievement in the process of visa liberalization,” Donald Tusk noted. The President of the European Council expressed hope that the EU institutions would soon reach an agreement on the suspension mechanism of the visa-free regimes that would pave the way towards final abolition of visas for Ukrainians.
Petro Poroshenko and Donald Tusk coordinated approaches to the completion of ratification of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union by the Netherlands as soon as possible.
The Head of State thanked the President of the European Council for solidarity of the EU member-states in the issue of the UN General Assembly resolution on the human rights in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol.
