“The Ukrainian President has taken into account the results of the presidential elections in Moldova that took place on October 30 and November 13. We respect the choice of Moldovan people,” Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Kostiantyn Yelisieiev said commenting on the results of the presidential elections in Moldova.

The Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration noted that Ukraine was willing to further develop good neighborly relations with Moldova. “We also count on preserving efficient cooperation in the framework of the strategic course towards European integration,” he said.

Kostiantyn Yelisieiev emphasized that positive dynamics of Ukraine-Moldova relations would directly depend on willingness of the new leadership of Moldova to develop cooperation on the basis of clear respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, including the non-recognition of the annexation of Crimea and commitment to the basic principles of international law.

“We reiterate respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity of Moldova within its internationally recognized borders, including Transnistria,” the Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration stressed.

Kostiantyn Yelisieiev noted that the Ukrainian party would continue playing active role of guarantor and mediator in the process of negotiations on the issue of Transnistria, inter alia, through the intensification of “5+2” format.
