Enhancing trade between Ukraine and China is desirable for Beijing, the Ambassador says.
China is initiating the process of establishing free trade area with Ukraine, the Ambassador of China to Ukraine Du Wei claimed on Monday, UNIAN reports.
Beijing hopes that their Ukrainian counterpart will actively study such possibilities, the top Chinese diplomat said during a forum on developing the New Silk Road trade project in Kyiv.
"The Chinese side has proposed on a working level an ambitious goal - the establishment of a Ukrainian-Chinese free trade area. We hope that the Ukrainian side will intensify their research on this issue," the Ambassador said.
Earlier reported President’s wife, Board Chairman of Petro Poroshenko Charity Foundation Maryna Poroshenko opened the first Ukrainian Silk Road Forum.
Maryna Poroshenko stressed that Ukraine had strong and stable relations with China based on the long-term friendship between the two nations, mutual respect, trust and equality.
“Ukraine and China develop diplomatic, economic and cultural ties confidently, cooperate in the sphere of science and technology, education, sports and tourism, have a broad potential for the further enhancement of versatile interaction,” the President’s wife addressed the participants of the Forum.
