President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko heard the report of Minister of Defense of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak and Chief of the General Staff of Ukraine Viktor Muzhenko on completion of the 6thwave of demobilization under the respective Decree.

The Chief of the General Staff reported that the process of demobilization had been fully completed except servicemen undergoing treatment or being subject of the internal investigation.

The President reminded that the last 6th wave of demobilization must have been completed by early November.

“As President and Supreme Commander-in-Chief, I can report to the people of Ukraine that there are no mobilized warriors on the frontline in the ATO area starting from today. And the Armed Forces of Ukraine must fully consist of volunteers and contract soldiers who are well-trained, motivated and equipped,” Petro Poroshenko said.

The Head of State noted: “In two years, mobilization has fulfilled a crucial role in ensuring the defense capacity of our state and rebuffing the aggressor that attacked our country in the most difficult times of the Ukrainian history”.

“The Ukrainian army has come a great distance over this time. Today, we have absolutely new Armed Forces of Ukraine,” Petro Poroshenko emphasized.

The President emphasized that only well-trained contract soldiers and volunteers were left on the frontline and they had been trained, inter alia, with participation of our foreign partners.

The Head of State noted that 60 thousand contractors had entered the ranks of the AFU as of the beginning of the year.

“It is important that the first stage reserve is formed of more than 100 thousand demobilized soldiers who had proven themselves in the AFU,” the President said.

The Head of State noted that it had become possible due to the Minsk agreements that had allowed to stop the aggressor and given time for the creation and training of the Armed Forces.

Earlier reported that Ukrainian wounded warriors took part in US Marine Corps Marathon 2016.
