Secretary of National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov says over 3000 shells and mines were fired towards positions of Ukrainian soldiers in the past two weeks in the south direction of Donbas.
The vast majority of shellings occured in Mariupol region. Turchynov underlined that this direction is becoming a hot spot on the war map of Ukrainian conflict and the main place where Russian agression increases its activity. NSDC Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov conducted a special meeting with the ATO military leadership to discuss the escalation.
According to Oleksandr Turchynov, the tension in the ATO zone is still extremely high, especially in the Mariupol direction: "The largest number of provocations and intensity of attacks are carried out near Marinka, Krasnogorivka, Vodyane, and Shyrokyne". "Even during the negotiations of the Normandy four, attacks on Ukrainian positions by the Russian aggressor did not stop", - Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine stated, also noting that Russian artillery was continuously conducting shellings Ukrainian army and their positions in the area.
"The Ukrainian military are ready for any pace of developments. Positions on the contact line are fortified and winterized. All the attempts of Russian-terrorist groupings to break through our defense line are doomed", - the NSDC Secretary stressed.
