General of the Army of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak, Minister of Defence of Ukraine, held talks with Mrs Isabelle Dumont, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of France to Ukraine.
‘We met a year ago here in the Defence Ministry. I am happy to state that we hold regular meetings to support and develop cooperation between Ukraine and France.
The minister briefed the Ambassador on the situation in Donbas and state of execution of the Minsk agreements, as well as he spoke about reforms within the defence ministry and international assistance to the Ukrainian army. General Poltorak thanked French Government for it and stressed France was a strategic partner of Ukraine.
‘We count on assistance and support of foreign partners and we undergo and implement changes. We focus our efforts on reforms and development of the Armed Forces of Ukraine,’ the minister stressed.
The parties discussed further bilateral cooperation and paid attention to some particular projects of military technical cooperation aimed at developing operative capabilities of Ukraine.
Ambassador Isabelle Dumont made propositions to continue dialog at the level of Ukrainian and French General Staffs. She reaffirmed France’s readiness to cooperate and develop bilateral relations with Ukraine.
Early Secretary of U.S. Department of State John Kerry claimed: We remain steadfast in our support for stable, united and democratic Ukraine.
