President Petro Poroshenko takes part in the official farewell ceremony of Nobel Peace Prize laureate, President of Israel (2007-2014) Shimon Peres in Jerusalem.
The Ukrainian President expressed condolences to Israeli people over the death of prominent public figure of Israel. “We say goodbye to a good friend of Ukraine. Shimon Peres is a prominent figure on a global scale, as he always made every effort to promote peace and put the principles of honor and respect for human dignity above anything else! That is why this is a loss of not only Israel, but also the entire world,” Petro Poroshenko said.
The mourning ceremony is attended by heads of state and government from all over the world, lots of foreign politicians and public figures: President of the United States Barack Obama and U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau, Governor-General of Australia Peter Cosgrove, Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte, President of Poland Andrzej Duda, President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė, President of the European Council Donald Tusk, Prince Charles and others.
The former President of Israel will be buried in the Mount Herzl in Jerusalem where the main national memorial of Israel is located. The state leaders and people who sacrificed their life for the country are buried there.
