29 oath-breaking judges dismissed after President`s Petro Poroshenko appeal

Today, 29th September, Verkhovna Rada during parliamentary meeting, initiated by President`s Petro Poroshenko urgent call, dismissed 29 judges. It took nearly 5 hours for members of the Parlamient to decide which judges would be dismissed due to the breaking of oath, connected with events took place during Maidan uprising in 2013 – 2014.

Early following the request of the President of Ukraine the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of VIII convocation convened an extraordinary plenary meeting  to consider the issue of dismissal of judges. 

29 judges lost their job in Ukrainian justice after violating the oath. 19 out of 29 - for cimes during the events of Maidan. The whole list included 33 names that are made public on the website of the Parliament. 

Parubiy, speaker of Ukrainian Parliament, noted positive actions that members of Parliament are undertaking. "Today there was yet another battle of the old and new Ukraine. We step by step eradicate the corruption in the state, including among judges".
