Situation in Donbas was the main topic of President`s phone conversation with Chancellor of Germany

President Petro Poroshenko had a phone conversation with Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel.

The parties discussed the situation in Donbas. Petro Poroshenko informed on the shelling by Russian militants despite the agreement on ceasefire and emphasized the importance of unhindered access of the OSCE to all districts of the occupied territory.

The President called for the intensification of international efforts for the liberation of all Ukrainian hostages. The Federal Chancellor noted that Germany was ready to provide assistance in treatment of Deputy Head of the Crimean Tatar Mejlis Ilmi Umerov.

Angela Merkel has once again confirmed that Ukraine had fulfilled all the criteria necessary for the introduction of the visa-free regime with the EU.

The Chancellor of Germany has expressed condolences over the 75th anniversary of the Babi Yar tragedy whose victims are honored in Ukraine these days. “We are with you today,” Angela Merkel said.

Early President of Ukraine jointly with civil activists initiated establishment of Babi Yar Memorial Center, emphasizing that such tragedy should not repeat.
