Kyiv has fulfilled all necessary conditions for obtaining loan guarantees from the US
The US is ready to give Ukraine $ 1 bln loan guarantees. The US Vice President Joseph Biden announced this during a meeting with Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko, President’s Administration press service reports, according to 112.international.
According to Biden, Ukraine has fulfilled all the necessary conditions.
The two sides also discussed the situation in the Donbas region and the implementation of the Minsk agreements. Poroshenko thanked the US for tightening sanctions against Russia. They also agreed to intensify diplomatic efforts to stop the Russian aggression against Ukraine.
President Poroshenko noted the importance of granting Ukraine the third tranche of the IMF and stressed their determination to continue reforms.
As reported earlier, the IMF allocated the third tranche of $ 1 billion to Ukraine. The Executive Board of the IMF made the corresponding decision on September 14. This decision to provide the tranche of financial assistance for Ukraine was adopted together with the exceptions to the general rules, given the current economic situation in the country.
Note, the IMF announced the conditions to receive the next tranche of $ 1.3 billion. Kyiv will have to carry out pension reform, optimize the system of payment of housing subsidies and develop a mechanism for increasing tariffs for gas and heating.
