Hug says there is certain trust between sides and responsibility in decision-making
The ceasefire in the Donbas region lasted over the last week gives hope for maintaining total ceasefire. The deputy head of the OSCE SMM Alexander Hug stated this during a briefing, 112.international reports.
'Now there is an opportunity to finally put an end to the conflict for the first time in a long time. I have a very strong hope that this can become real', Hug said.
He says there is a certain trust that between the parties responsibility in decision-making.
'I have hope, because last week I saw men and women with power authority, who took the rational and reasonable and, most importantly, humane decisions, and basically they adhered to them', said the deputy head of the OSCE mission.
'I urge the parties to take the next steps. What we need is full trust and confidence. A long and persistent ceasefire can be achieved only if the parties shall draw off all prohibited weapons and military units, Hug stressed.
Recall that Hug said that for the first time since early May the situation in most areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions remains relatively calm.
