President visits Donetsk region

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko stated that France and Germany supported the Ukrainian side's initiative regarding the ceasefire state in the Donbas region from September 1. They are now waiting for the Russian President Vladimir Putin's decision. Poroshenko said this during his visit to the Donetsk region, President's Press Secretary Svyatoslav Tsegolko wrote on Twitter, reports.

'Our partners from France and Germany support Ukraine's initiative on cease-fire state from September 1. We are waiting for Putin's decision now', Poroshenko said.

The President emphasized the necessity of creating instruments of pressure jointly in order to ensure peace, fulfill the security components, withdraw Russian troops and prohibited artillery from the territory of Ukraine, provide unhindered access for the OSCE observers and liberate all Ukrainians held captive in the occupied territory.

Recall that Trilateral Contact Group met in Minsk on August 26 regarding the Donbas conflict. The statement on the total ceasefire from September 1 was announced there.

As reported earlier by,  Poroshenko has held a telephone talk with NATO Secretary General due to escalation of Donbass conflict.
