The flight to take place under the 1992 Open Skies Treaty, Russian side reports
'On August 22-27, the joint U.S.-Ukrainian mission will perform a reconnaissance flight above the territory of the Russian Federation. The U.S. reconnaissance aircraft OS-135B will take off from Ulan-Ude airfield', said Sergei Zabello, the Acting Head of Russia’s National Centre for Decrease of Nuclear Safety,112.international reports.
According to him, the Russian side controls all parameters of the flight, including its route and use of special equipment aboard the aircraft, which is also foreseen by the Open Skies Treaty. ‘The plane belongs to the aircraft that doesn’t carry any weaponry. The aircraft and the installed equipment were certified by specialists, including the Russian ones; thus, no technical means banned by the Treaty will be used’, Zabello said.
