Vernyayev: ‘I’m fine with the result’

‘I did everything I could, and I’m fine with the outcome. I’m not going to discuss decisions of judges. I’ve got what I’ve got. I got the award, the rest doesn’t matter’, said Oleg Vernyayev, the holder of silver medal of Rio 2016 in pentathlon (rhythmic gymnastics), reports.

Many Ukrainian sport reporters claim that the judges took away the victory from Vernyayev as he struggled with Japanese Kohei Uchimura, the Olympic champion of London 2012. The Ukrainian allowed no mistakes in the final exercise of the event, but judges apparently stripped him of points, which stopped Vernyayev only a step away from the first Olympic gold for his country in these Olympics.
