Turkish leader Recep Tayip Erdogan signed the respective document on July 21, AP reports.
According to 112.international, Under the decree, all service branches of the country’s armed forces are now under direct control of two civilian officials – Erdogan himself and PM Binali Yildirim.
Previously, the Turkish army was supposed to obey orders from the army’s General Staff.
The document states more than a thousand military men are subject to arrest, due to involvement in the failed military coup that took place last month.
