National Council of Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine banned TV channel 'Nostalgia' for propaganda of communism and of the Soviet regime.

Today, the National Council of Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine excluded a Russian broadcaster 'Nostalgia' from the list of adapted channels in Ukraine, reports.

The TV-channel 'Nostalgia' aired programs about fortunetellers, quiz and shows, showing, to the regulator's opinion, propaganda of communism and of the Soviet regime, which contradicts to the decommunization law. The broadcaster is in the sphere of influence of the Russian TV producer Vladimir Ananichev.

The reasons for this are violations of Ukrainian legislation, in particular paragraph seven of Article 6 of the Law of Ukraine 'On Television and Radio' - in an advertising-entertainment program 'Philosophy of fate' with psychic mediums, parapsychologists and fortune tellers, paid services are provided to the viewers. Besides, logo of 'Nostalgia' was missing, according to the National Council.

Moreover, the National Council saw the signs of violation of Article 4 of the Law of Ukraine 'On the condemnation of Communist and National Socialist (Nazi) totalitarian regimes in Ukraine and the prohibition of propaganda of their symbolism', because TV-broadcast itself has formalized symbols of the Soviet Union, the logo contains the image of the hammer and sickle, and screensaver show Soviet flag and a red star and so on.

The decision to withdraw the channel from the list of foreign TV programs came into its effect upon its publication.
