About 1,500 believers gather in Kyiv to continue religious procession, according to the police
Security measures are extremely high, as almost 5,000 policemen maintain public order in the Ukrainian capital, 112.international reports.
A religious procession, which started in Ternopil and Donetsk regions in July, organized by the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) of Moscow Patriarchate, gather in Kyiv on July 27.
The press service of the National Police in Kyiv says that about 700 participants in the religious procession are at Volodymyrska Hirka Hill now; some 800 more are on their way to the European square in the downtown city.
20 stationary metal detectors and a lot of hand-held metal detectors will be used to scan the people for suspicious items, guns, explosives et cetera. The law enforcers will also check IDs and perform pat searches.
The police HQ asks the participants in the religious procession to adhere to the law and urges the citizens to report immediately upon spotting anything or anyone suspicious in the area of the event.
