The terrorist group released a statement calling the attackers 'the soldiers of the Islamic State'

President of France Francois Hollande said both assailants claimed to be members of ISIS. Francois Hollande condemned the killing of a priest and said France was ‘at war' with the ISIS. He added that the government would fight the group 'with all means possible', Ukraine today reports.

Police named the slain priest – it is 84-year-old Father Jacques Hamel. One more victim of the assault is in serious condition, and one more slightly injured. The attack happened on Tuesday morning in Normandy region of France. Two men armed with blades took five people hostages in a church. Both assailants were killed by police.
