It’s title track was performed on behalf of Ukraine two months ago in Stockholm at the international song contest Eurovision-2016, where Jamala got the first place

'Ukrainian singer Jamala released album 1944 in the US.

The song 1944 is dedicated to the memory about the terrible tragedy of the Crimean Tatar people (Jamala is a Crimean Tatar herself) – the forcible deportation by Stalin’s regime from their native land Crimea – and calls to prevent its recurrence in the future.
The title track is in English and Crimean Tatar, while 8 other songs of the album are in English and 3 songs are in Ukrainian.
The album is released by the Universal Music Group, Inc.'
