'I have no doubts that transport corridors play a key role,' Aliyev said.
Ukraine and Azerbaijan are interested in the revival of Odessa – Brody project. This was reported by the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
'We have discussed the implementation of the Odessa-Brody pipeline very seriously and instructed to revive this project, because Azerbaijan deliver a lot of its oil to the European market and also is to become a transit country for the states of the Caspian Sea’s eastern coast. Thus, the restoration of the project creates good opportunities for the Caspian, Black and Baltic seas. This triangle has the potential for cooperation. I have no doubts that transport corridors play a key role,' Aliyev said.
The oil pipeline of Odessa-Brody is a pipeline that was built between the city of Odessa at the Black Sea and the city of Brody in Lviv region in 2001.
Its operational length is 667 km and the capacity reaches 14.5 million tons of oil per year.
It was supposed to use for transportation of Caspian and Kazakh oil to bypass the Turkish straits from the port of Yuzhny near Odessa to refineries of Eastern, and Central Europe, and through the port of Gdansk to Northern Europe.
The pipeline was built in 1996-2002. The construction costs 550 million hryvnias.
