11 people including Leonid Chernovetskyi’s son Stepan, were detained on suspicion of money laundering in Barcelona during a special operation of local security forces.
The special operation was carried out in an expensive Japanese restaurant that belonged to Armenian businessman Arman Mailyan. It is known that 11 people were detained during the investigation of the criminal group’s activities, which was engaged in money laundering.
'There mostly are Ukrainians and Russians living in Barcelona among the detainees. It’s known that the number of detainees includes Stepan Chernovetskyi, the former mayor of Kyiv Leonid Chernovetskyi’s son,' the sources said.
The detainees are accused of involvement in a criminal organization, money laundering, forgery of official documents and tax racket.
The investigators suggest that the restaurant, where the detention took place, was a cover for the Ukrainian criminals who used to invest money obtained by illegal means.
