All the repair work on the pipeline has been finished.

Ukraine is ready to renew reverse gas import through the territory of Poland, which was suspended due to some repair work on the pipeline of Komarno – Drozdovichi, Ukrtransgaz’s spokesman Maksim Belyavskiy says.

'From this day on, Ukrtransgaz is ready to import gas from the territory of Poland. All the repair work on the reverse pipeline has been finished,' Belyavskiy wrote on his page in Facebook.

The repair work on the pipeline started this May. Then Ukrtransgaz promised that the pipeline is to be ready for use by the middle of July. During the work, the gas was imported to Ukraine only in Slovak and Hungarian corridors.

The Ukrainian heating season of 2015-2016 was the first season that was going without Russian gas. Ukraine stopped pumping gas from Russia on November 25, 2015 despite the agreements on winter discounts with Gazprom. The authorities explained this decision with the high prices for Russian fuel.

As reported earlier by, Delivery of Russian gas to the EU will cost 3-4 times less via Ukraine than via Nord Stream 2.
